Moodboard Design
SuperNormal Concepts
I worked on a series of moodboards to convey design stories and material and color palettes for designers and objects from the Vitra and Kvadrat collection. These moodboards were categories into two groups: studied and applied.
Studied
These moodboards focus on the inspiration, process, and techniques employed by the designers. They also explore related concepts, referencing art movements and artists who have worked with the material for special projects or research.
Drawing from pointillist landscapes in expressionist paintings, this boucle fabric features speckles of color — it accents bold, contrasting colors like duck egg blue and burgundy against black, as well as more subdued combinations lending to a classic appeal.
Atom by Raf Simons works with Pointillism that is characterised by the divisionist technique, painting using tiny adjacent dabs of primary color to create the impression of light.
Applied
The focus of these moodboards were on applications of the materials used across architecture, art and design. They highlighted the characteristics, construction and the benefits of the materials used.
The process, technique and the dynamic play of Re-wool’s surface when applied to furniture — here Vitra’s Fauteuil Direction Pivotant. This pairing ensures optimum comfort.
Re-wool by Margrethe Odgaard: A both honest and environmentally friendly textile with a poetic feel. Crafted using 45% recycled wool by reusing scraps from Kvadrat’s yarn spinners in the UK.
Fauteuil Direction Pivotant by Jean Prouvé: The swivel seat is height adjustable, and the backward tilt mechanism can be adapted to the individual user's weight.
